Ring Meteorite Campo del Cielo / Tanzanite / raw / new Set in 925 sterling silver Total weight: 3.88 g 16.1 mm x 10.5 mm New and unworn Ring size: EU 53 UK M 1/2 US 6.4 FR 13 Inner diameter: 16.8 mm Tanzanite is a blue to violet variety of the mineral zoisite. It is used as a gemstone, just like the pink variety thulite. Like zoisite, tanzanite crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system and typically develops transparent, prismatic to columnar crystals that can reach several centimeters in length and exhibit a glassy luster on their surfaces. Cleavage surfaces tend to be somewhat pearly. The iron meteorite Campo del Cielo was first mentioned in 1576. At the site of the find there is a field of 122 pits and craters, the largest of which is 70 m in diameter and 5 m deep. In the last two centuries, numerous masses, some weighing tons, have been recovered there, so the total weight is estimated at 30–50 t, making Campo del Cielo the third-largest meteorite after Hoba and Cape York.
