Ring Meteorite Campo del Cielo / Tanzanite / raw / new In 925 sterling silver mounted Total weight: 4.20 g 17.7 mm x 9.5 mm New and unworn Ring size: U 55 UK O US 7,2 FR 15 Inner diameter: 17.5 mm Tanzanite is a blue to violet variety of the mineralZoisite. It is used as a gemstone, just like the pink variety Thulit. When Zoisite crystallizes, Tanzanite forms in the orthorhombic crystal system and typically develops transparent, prismatic to columnar crystals that can reach several centimeters in length and exhibit a glassy luster on the surfaces. Cleavage surfaces tend to have a pearly luster. The iron meteorite Campo del Cielo was first mentioned in 1576. At the find site there is a field of 122 pits and craters; the largest measures 70 m in diameter and is 5 m deep. In the last two centuries, many masses—some weighing tons—have been recovered there, so that the total weight is estimated at 30–50 t, which makes Campo del Cielo the third-largest meteorite after Hoba and Cape York.
