Like the pink variety Thulit, it is used exclusively as a gemstone. As Zoisite, Tanzanite crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system and typically develops transparent, prismatic to columnar crystals that can reach several centimeters in length and display a glassy luster on the surfaces.
