Teapot - Porcelain - China - 20th century

Ancient Chinese porcelain teapot from the Rose Family (Famille Rose), predominantly dating to the late Qing dynasty, early 20th century. It is hand-decorated with polychrome enamels, with pink and green tones predominating. It features a low, flattened cylindrical shape, typical of many tea containers or export-covered infusion cups. It has a short, straight spout on one side and a ring handle on the opposite side to facilitate gripping. The body and lid are finely hand-decorated with polychrome enamels on an ivory-white ground. The motifs depict scenes of daily life or court life in a traditional garden, animated by dignitaries, female figures and children among bamboo trees and floral arrangements. The lid is flat with a small central knob shaped (often fish-shaped, a symbol of longevity) painted in vivid pink/red tones. Dimensions: H 10 cm × L 16.5 cm × D 11 cm; weight 393 g. Comes intact with no missing parts, cracks or restorations. Insured shipping with professional packaging.
