Old silver teapot, attributed to the Parisian silversmith Frat, bearing several hallmarks, including a master’s mark in a diamond shape. With an additional Minerve mark inside. There are three marks: the master’s mark, a diamond, and a Minerva mark for the silver. Beautiful piece of French silverware featuring a rich floral and vegetal relief decoration. The body of the teapot is particularly worked, with an ornate pouring spout, a decorative lid, and a base with vegetal motifs. It has a carved wooden handle, giving the piece a particularly elegant and authentic character. The silversmith Frat, Paris, is historically referenced in the 19th century for table silverware. A source from the 1855 World’s Fair lists him under no. 5031 as a manufacturer of ordinary table silverware. The piece shows signs of use and aging, notably several small dents, marks, scratches, and areas of silver wear. These imperfections should be noted but also testify to its age and history. A beautiful piece of antique silverware, richly decorated, intended for lovers of French silversmithing and collectible pieces.
