An impressive and richly decorated ensemble, consisting of a silver-plated teapot on a stand, a matching rechaud, and a separate spirit lamp. With its sculptural form, a substantial height of about 36 cm, and refined ornamentation, this is a particularly decorative object with a strong, representative presence. The whole reflects the elegant European tea culture around 1900, in which practical use and stylish table presentation were closely linked. Metal teapots on heating stands, internationally known as spirit kettles, were used to keep water warm with the help of a separate spirit lamp. Such objects were not only functional but also formed a striking part of a well-kept interior and a festively laid table. The stand bears the mark ENGSTRÖM, possibly referring to the historic firm Johan Engström from Eskilstuna. This company was founded in 1874 and initially manufactured steel useful articles. Later production expanded to metal household items, including coffee and tea services. The firm remained active until 1915. This production history is documented by the Eskilstuna City Museum. Characteristics: - The teapot stands out for its beautifully curved belly, long, upward-curved spout, and tall carrying handle with a contrasting black grip. The removable lid is crowned by a decorative knob. Contoured edges and carefully applied ornaments enhance the elegant silhouette and the monumental appearance. - The accompanying rechaud is richly executed with floral ornaments, scrolls, and openwork details. The contoured base and small decorative feet give the whole extra relief and refinement. The reflective silver-colored surface accentuates the plastic forms and lets the decoration stand out beautifully. As expected for an object of this age and its history of use, there are signs of aging, including light scratches, small surface irregularities, and localized discolorations. These features underscore the authentic character of the piece. The photographs are an integral part of the description and give a comprehensive impression of the execution, ornamentation, and condition. This ensemble is offered as a historic, functional yet decorative collectible. Thanks to its sculptural form and rich ornamentation, it makes a convincing focal point in a classic interior, for example on a marble sidetable, an antique sideboard, in a library, or in a display cabinet. A special addition for enthusiasts of Scandinavian metalwork, historic silverware, neorococo, and refined European salon and tea culture. Shipping: The ensemble is carefully packed.
