This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable, natural materials. The way of knotting and diversity in patterns make this rug unique and emphasize the authentic and artisanal character. It is an excellent used rug with an extremely long lifespan. This is a rarely used, cleaned rug that can be laid down as is. A special & beloved rug, very finely knotted centerpiece. Hand-knotted in Turkmenistan, by the Teke tribe(s). Comparable to the better-known Yomut, but even more exclusive. These Teke tribes did not knot rugs as often as the larger Yomut tribes. Thus rarer and full of stories, open to one's own interpretation. Great rug made of 100% wool, hand-knotted somewhere between 1930 and 1950 and still in unusually good condition for its age.
