Television - Marquee Moon (US) – Original 1977 Specialty...

A highly desirable original 1977 US pressing of Television's landmark debut album Marquee Moon, pressed by Specialty Records Corporation and identifiable by the "SP" markings in the runout. Released on Elektra in 1977, Marquee Moon became one of the defining records to emerge from New York's downtown scene. Although closely associated with punk, its intricate twin-guitar interplay, extended arrangements and Tom Verlaine's highly distinctive playing gave the album a sound entirely of its own. The album includes the classics See No Evil, Venus, Friction, Prove It and the extraordinary title track Marquee Moon. This copy is a genuine US Specialty Records Corporation pressing. The "SP" plant code appearing in the deadwax identifies Specialty as the pressing plant, while documented examples of this issue were mastered at Sterling Sound. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): The original picture sleeve remains structurally very solid and presents well. There is some light creasing together with normal age-related edge and corner wear, but no major structural damage. Overall a strong VG+ sleeve. Vinyl (VG+): The record retains a very nice original gloss. There are some light superficial signs of previous play together with a slight cloudy appearance in places. Importantly, this cloudiness is visual only and does not negatively affect playback. There are no serious or deep marks. Overall a solid VG+ example that plays very nicely. ⸻ Details * US 1st pressing * Elektra 7E-1098 * Specialty Records Corporation pressing * Stereo * SP plant code in runout * Mastered at Sterling Sound
