TENNIS: Ilie NASTASE, VARIOUS

Dunlop Fort Maxply racket. Probably used by Ilie Nastase during the 1968–69 season and given to Michel Mattei. It is one of the most widely used wooden rackets in history. This racket was donated by the player and comes from the personal collection of Michel Mattei, director, screenwriter and producer of the documentaries *The Rites of Passage: The John McEnroe Story* (1981) and *The Pat Cash Story: No Second Prize* (1987). A tennis enthusiast, he has built up an exceptional collection of over 1,500 rackets over several decades, thanks to his close ties with many legends of the sport, notably John McEnroe and Pat Cash.
