Teotihuacan Tripod Rattle Bowl with Painted Hand Motifs

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Teotihuacan. A pottery tripod bowl with flaring, slightly waisted walls and a burnished orange exterior marked by shallow horizontal ridges. Each of the three hollow feet contains clay pellets that rattle when the bowl is moved. The interior floor is a pale red circular field and painted in darker red slip with motifs resembling raised hands, set among stepped and banded geometric designs. The darker paint has a faint mica-like shimmer. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. Item # 205617
