Magnificent equatorial sundial made in 1987 by The Franklin Mint, as part of the collection “The Grand Instruments of Discovery,” in collaboration with the National Maritime Historical Society. This remarkable reproduction of a historical scientific instrument is entirely crafted in solid yellow brass, with a finely engraved hour circle of Roman numerals and the Latin motto “TEMPUS VINCIT OMNIA” (Time conquers all). Its orientable mechanism includes a meridian arc, a graduated hour circle, a style and a locking screw allowing the adjustments needed to read the solar time. The whole rests on an elegant circular dark wood base, adorned with a richly decorated metal plaque. Condition: Good overall state of conservation, with a few light signs of time and handling. Accompanied by its certificate of authenticity and its original explanatory notice, including usage instructions and the instrument’s history. Photographs are part of the description and allow appreciating the details and the condition of the set. Careful shipping, professional packaging and tracking shipment. Happy bidding on Catawiki!!!
