THE FRENCH AND THE PRUSSIANS FACE TO FACE - Lot 225

THE FRENCH AND THE PRUSSIANS FACE TO FACE [1870 WAR - FRANCE & PRUSSIA - CARTOON] The French and the Prussians Face to Face. A large satirical print featuring a gallery of French and Prussian military figures facing each other: officers, cuirassiers, infantrymen, a hussar, a guide, Landwehr soldiers, and a “Turco,” each accompanied by a short humorous caption. The composition systematically plays on the caricatured contrast between the two armies. Black lithograph. Printed price: 15 centimes. Paris, Typ. Rouge frères et Cie, rue du Four-Saint-Germain, circa 1870. An interesting, popular propaganda print from the Franco-Prussian War. Center horizontal fold; some foxing and soiling; small marginal tears; nevertheless, well-preserved overall.

Estimate:£84.61
