The Hay Gathering. Italian School. 19th Century. Signed.

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions 119 x 61 cm. A rural scene depicting several peasants gathering hay under a luminous sky. The horizontal composition conveys serenity and balance, with an atmospheric treatment that envelops the figures in a golden light. The loose, vibrant brushstrokes and chromatic harmony place the work within the Italian lyrical realism of the mid-19th century, close to the Macchiaioli principles. The technique reveals a profound understanding of the rural landscape and its idealized representation. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist.
