THE MARTYRDOM OF SAINT PHILOMENA - 17TH CENTURY ITALIAN BAROQUE MASTER

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions 69 × 89 cm and 81 × 100 cm. Saint Sebastian appears semi-nude after being pierced by the arrows of his martyrdom, his gaze directed towards heaven and enveloped in dramatic chiaroscuro. The oval format and expressive intensity are characteristic of 17th-century Italian Baroque painting. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
