The Royal Horse Guards, Officer's Helmet. An excellent early Elizabethan 1871 pattern example, the German silvered skull with brass trim and all other fittings in good quality gilt metal, with a Queen Elizabeth crown surmounting the frontal plate with a central silvered beaded star overlain with a gilt pierced Garter star upon blue enamel backing, centred with the cross of St. George in red enamel within a gilt frame, with fine gilt large rose pattern side bosses and a graduated leather lined gilt chin chain, the plume holder in gilt and silver plate complete with its red horse hair plume bearing a large gilt rose finial, the interior with a buff chamois leather liner, excellent condition £800-£1,000.
