Here is a superb pair of two creative Kokeshi. The first is an authentic work by the craftsman Hidetada Shimoda. The raw wooden base features the double signature: the geographic origin "Shimoda" and the artist's calligraphic signature. The cylindrical body in natural wood stands out with a gorgeous vertically grooved texture, on which cherry blossom flowers are painted. Dimensions: H 29 x D 7 cm The second is an authentic and magnificent solid wood Japanese doll, turned and engraved. This Japanese artisan craft piece is a creation of the renowned artist Sadao Kishi (1932–1998), famous for his clean lines and his homage to nature. The body and base of the doll bear delicate motifs of hand-engraved ears of grain, characteristic of his style. It is distinguished by its unique design composed of stacked geometric shapes, its minimalist face with slender closed eyes, and the sculpted topknot. The artist's seal appears under its base. Dimensions: H 23.5 x D 5 cm Kokeshi are true collectible pieces. Please consult the photos for more details. Protected and tracked shipping.
