Themed collection - Masonic square and compasses

Masonic square and compasses – Double-faced engraving – Apprentice, Fellow Craft and Master Mason – Degree progression Magnificent Masonic set composed of a large wooden square and a metal compasses, both adorned with numerous symbolic engravings on their two faces. The peculiarity of this set lies in its two completely different faces, representing the stages of the initiatic path, from the Apprentice to the Fellow Craft, then to the Master Mason. First face – Apprentice and Fellow Craft This face is devoted to the early degrees of Freemasonry. The square presents several symbolic engravings: - Three columns representing Wisdom, Strength and Beauty, accompanied by their inscriptions. - Various construction tools, symbols of the work and the perfection of the Freemason. - The square and the compasses, accompanied by the letter G. This composition evokes the initiatic work of the Apprentice and the Fellow Craft, as well as their progression toward knowledge. Second face – Master Mason The second face is devoted to the third degree of Freemasonry. It presents a particularly rich symbolic composition: - Two columns topped by the Sun and the Moon. - In the center, a skull and crossbones, associated with the square and compasses. - A triangle with the all-seeing eye. - A long branch of acacia, a symbol especially important in the Master Mason degree. The whole set evokes the teachings of the third degree, notably contemplation of life, death, transmission and symbolic rebirth. The metal compasses The compasses feature a beautiful central hinge and two arms ending in points. Its two faces are also engraved with different Masonic symbols, including geometric motifs and representations linked to the initiatic tradition. Its metallic finish and engravings give it a particularly decorative character. An ensemble intended for degree transitions This ensemble has the peculiarity of being reversible to reveal the symbols corresponding to the different Masonic degrees. It can thus symbolically accompany the ceremonies of degree transitions, from the Apprentice and Fellow Craft’s early works to the elevation to Master. An original set uniting the first three degrees of Freemasonry on a single object. Dimensions Wooden square: 34.5 × 21 cm Metal compasses: 25.5 cm in length Condition Good overall condition, with some marks and signs of use visible on the wood and metal. The engravings are present on both faces and retain their numerous details. A particularly interesting set for collectors of Masonic objects, symbolism enthusiasts, and lovers of initiatic traditions. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow appreciation of the engravings on each face.
