Old surveyor's brass telescope / topographic surveying instrument, plausibly attributable to Heller & Brightly, an American manufacturer of precision instruments based in Philadelphia. The instrument features a long brass telescopic tube paired with a substantial graduated circle with vernier, as well as various precision adjustments enabling the measurement of angles and inclinations during surveying, mapping and topography work.. Beautiful antique patina with signs of use and oxidation. Dating estimated: late 19th century, around 1870-1900. Attribution to Heller & Brightly.
