Thomas McCredie, Stranraer, a Scottish mahogany longcase clock the eight-day duration movement having an anchor escapement and striking the hours on a bell, the thirteen-and-a-half-inch painted break-arch dial having black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and date dials, floral decorative painted corners, swans on a lake depicted in the arch, brass decorative hands and signed to the centre for the maker Thos. McCredie, Stranraer, the mahogany case with crossbanding inlaid stringing, pillared columns to the trunk, canted corners to the base, a swan-neck pediment with carved rose patrae and all standing on bracket feet, height 223cm Notes: Thomas McCredie is recorded as working in George Street, Stranraer, Wigtownshire from before 1825 until at least 1858.
