Thomas van Wissen (1866-1954) - Monumentaal Nederlands...

Very large and atmospheric oil painting by the artist Thomas van Wissen, whose traditional landscapes are greatly loved in classic interiors. Subject: The canvas shows a wide, classical Dutch landscape with blooming heather, a winding sandy path, a distinctive pine tree in the foreground, and a dense forest edge on the right. In the distance a church tower is subtly visible under a Dutch cloudscape. Monumental Size: This work, by virtue of its enormous size (well over 120 cm wide), serves as a beautiful decorative 'statement piece' for the wall. The Frame: The painting is housed in a heavy, high-quality and richly decorated Baroque frame that represents a substantial part of its value and completes the classical look. Condition: Both the canvas and the frame are in good decorative condition. The oil paint shows a beautiful craquelé appropriate to its age. There is an older, stabilized restoration/old-age spot in the painted sky (see photos for details). Given the large size, the painting is packed and shipped with the utmost care.
