Detailed Item Description Short Description For sale is an absolutely extraordinary and museum-quality specimen of a Shinbone-Tibia (Tibia fusus / Shinbone Tibia). At a length of 16 cm (160 mm), the piece has an excellent display size for a showcase. This snail has been classified with the rare top rating “GEM Grade” and is distinguished by a unique feature: it is delivered completely with its original, perfectly preserved operculum (shell lid). Such a complete set in undamaged condition is extremely rare on the collector’s market and represents the absolute crown jewel for any discerning conchology collection. Product Details & Highlights at a Glance Species: Tibia fusus (Linnaeus, 1758) Family: Marginellidae? (actually the true family should be Stromboidea: volutes; but the original says Flügelschnecken (Strombidae / Rostellariidae)) Size: Impressive 16 cm (160 mm) total length Condition / Grading: GEM Grade (highest attainable collecting level; absolutely flawless) Special Highlight: Includes original operculum (the horn-colored lid is loose accompanying or perfectly positioned in the aperture) Sipho Canal: The extremely fragile, needle-point projection is 100% complete, straight, and undamaged Surface & Color: Mirror-smooth, silky-matte gloss with elegant shading in refined beige, ivory, and warm cocoa brown Origin: Tropical Indo-Pacific / waters around the Philippines (deep-water specimen from sandy seabeds) Condition Description The shell as well as the operculum are in a pristine collector’s dream state (GEM). The piece shows no cracks, chips, artificial grinding, or growth defects. The aperture is razor-sharp and clearly defined. Since in most finds the operculum is lost or not prepared with the specimen, this original lid greatly enhances the scientific and material value of the present specimen. The piece comes from a well-kept, light-protected private collection. SKU Oberdiek Shinbone Tibia m.O. 50
