An antique wooden-framed ceramic tile trivet featuring a hand-painted hunting scene of a huntsman and his dog. an antique French mechanical music box, typically dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century Hand-Written SongsThe label indicates that this mechanical music box plays "2 Airs" (two distinct melodies):Heureuse Valse (Happy Waltz): A lively waltz piece popular during the late Victorian or Edwardian eras.Les Cloches de Corneville (The Bells of Corneville): This is an incredibly famous melody extracted from the hit 1877 French opéra-comique (operetta) composed by Robert Planquette French musical trivets (dessous de plat à musique) and pocket watch-style tabatières. They were often made featuring hand-painted tiles—such as those from the famous Émaux de Longwy—encased in a carved wooden base. When a teapot or hot dish was set on top, the mechanical pressure triggered the clockwork gears inside to play the two songs.
