Hergé / Maricq – Tintin’s Treasures + 22 facsimiles (2014) The book The Treasures of Tintin, written by Dominique Maricq and published by Casterman / Moulinsart, is a beautiful hardcover box set of 96 pages released in November 2013. It offers 22 facsimiled documents, rare items from Hergé’s archives (letters, sketches, unpublished boards and advertising objects). Box contents * A richly illustrated book tracing the genesis of Hergé’s work and the history of his albums * 22 facsimile documents slipped into pockets or separated, including: * Tintin’s first appearance in Le Petit Vingtième (1929) * Sketches and rough drawings from personal notebooks (1937) * Unpublished album pages or panels (Tintin and the Art of the Alpha Art, Tintin and the Picaros) * Coloring blueprints and period advertising posters. Collection of facsimiled albums * There is also a distinct collection of color facsimile albums (like The Treasure of Red Rackham). These are exact reissues of the color-suffused versions published between the 1940s and 1970s, before later layout or drawing changes made by Hergé. Description Original edition Tintin’s courage, the Captain Haddock’s florid language, the jewels (and cries of horror) of Castafiore, Milou’s curiosity, the natural elegance of the Dupond and Dupont, or the quick wit of Prof. Calculus… a universe that enchants us, resonates deep within our childhood, and that we eagerly pass on to our children as a heritage when we’re adults. This very beautiful work traces the genesis of the adventures of the Little King newspaper’s reporter and, in the background, paints the portrait of his brilliant and talented creator, Hergé, aka R.G., aka Georges Remi. As chapters go by, album after album, year after year, anecdotes that peppered the creation of the twenty-four Tintin albums and major episodes of the life of its author are recounted. Richly illustrated, it contains twenty-two treasures, rare and unpublished documents reproduced with care, in facsimile form, including a replica of the first issue of Le Petit Vingtième, dating from 1929. It will delight all seasoned Tintin fans, but also targets a curious and passionate family audience of comics and fine books. Its advantageous specifications say a lot about the quality of its content and its layout: Format: 29.80 cm x 26 cm 96 pages in four-color printing on matte coated 150 g/m² paper 4 inner envelopes containing a total of 22 rare facsimiled documents Matte-covered 4-color binding with inner cases Individually wrapped in film Legal deposit: September 2013 Editions Moulinsart Condition: excellent - The albums have never been opened They have always been under glass
