Tom of Finland (Touko Valio Laaksonen) (Finnish, 1920-1991)

Photo Negative Strips for Kake Vols. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7, late 1960s-early 1970s. Annotated in felt-tip marker on the envelope, "Avery Willard". Fifty-eight (58) photo negative strips consisting of one-hundred-and-sixteen (116) pages of volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 of Kake. All strips enclosed in an envelope signed "Avery Willard", relating to the famous New York photographer, publisher, and gay rights activist Avery Willard (a.k.a. Bruce King). There are records of correspondence between Willard and Tom throughout the 1960s, before Tom's arrival in the United States. However, the exact connection and purpose of these negative strips has yet to be identified. Envelope: 5 1/4 x 4 1/2 in. (13.3 x 11.4 cm.) Photo Negative Strips: 2 3/8 x 5 in. (6 x 12.7 cm.)
