Tony Fernandez - Donald Duck Inspired by Joan Miró's...

• Hand Signed by the Artist • Unique Original Artwork from the "Inspired By" Collection • Certificate of Authenticity Included • Ready to Frame In 1973, Joan Miró created "Pour Paul Éluard", a colour etching and aquatint dedicated to his friend, the great French Surrealist poet: a constellation of bold primary colours, stars, moons and floating black signs, published in Paris in a limited edition. Veteran Disney artist Tony Fernandez takes that composition as his starting point and hides a famous friend inside it. Look closely: the blue sailor cap floats at the top with its black ribbon and the tuft of hair beneath it; a bright yellow crescent becomes his unmistakable beak; a red oval and a black arch form his eye and eyebrow; and his little green tie and red feet are scattered among Miró's beloved stars and signs. It's Donald Duck. The result is a true game for the eye: at first glance, a pure Miró-style constellation of primary colours, black lines and soft sprayed textures; a moment later, Donald appears, as clear as ever. Painted in acrylic and ink on art paper, the work is framed by a hand-painted black border that gives it the presence of a small gallery piece. A witty and sophisticated tribute that brings together the universe of one of the most important artists of the 20th century and one of Disney's most beloved characters. ▸ Acrylic and ink on art paper ▸ Format: 36 x 30 cm (unframed) Tony Fernandez is a veteran Disney artist who has been drawing Disney's most beloved characters for more than 35 years and continues to work for Disney in Europe today.
