[TOUSSAINT (François-Vincent)]. *Les Mœurs*. No place, no publisher, 1755. 3 parts in one in-12 volume, red morocco leather, triple gilt fillet, decorated spine, olive-colored title label, interior roulette, gilt edges (contemporary binding). Frontispiece and 3 title fleurons. A work of moral philosophy in which the author—a journalist close to Diderot and a contributor to *L'Encyclopédie*—develops his theory of deism and natural religion. Upon its publication in 1748, the book caused a scandal and was condemned to be torn to pieces and burned. Slight marginal water stain on a few leaves, including the title page. One corner is chipped.
