Tray - Wood - Hindeloopen

A splendid, hand-painted wooden tray realized in the world-renowned Hindeloopen painting tradition. This quality piece is an excellent example of traditional Dutch folk art, originating from the historical Frisian town of Hindeloopen. The tray features a classic oval shape with an elegant, scalloped, raised rim. On the short sides, functional handles are beautifully carved into the wood. The interior is richly decorated in the well-known Roosjestijl, characterized by a symmetrical composition of floral motifs and graceful scroll ornaments. The painting is applied on an authentic ox-blood red ground. The traditional colors – including pale blue, ochre yellow, white, and various greens – contrast beautifully with the deep red base and the dark outer rim.
