Tribal Necklace with Carnelian Beads & 1908 Quarter Anna...

An authentic carnelian necklace from the Naga tribe Nagaland, India - Early to Mid 20th Century Naga necklace featuring a strand of large, irregularly shaped, tumbled natural carnelian gemstone beads. The carnelian chunks alternate with a series of traditional, hollow cast-brass bells. The necklace is anchored by a British Raj currency coin utilized as a traditional button closure. The button is an authentic 1908 King Edward VII Quarter Anna coin. Length (open) = 57 cm Length (closed) = 28 cm Width = 1 cm Weight = 85 g Number of beads = 24 To ensure structural integrity and safe wearability, the heavy carnelian beads have been re-strung onto modern high-tensile fish wire. The original, hand-wrapped dark textile loop around the upper neckline has been preserved and integrated over the modern wire. For a good impression, please watch all photos carefully. Insured shipping. Can also be collected in Ghent, Belgium.
