SNG von Aulock 1. Abydos was an important Greek city of the Troad, strategically situated on the Asian shore of the Hellespont. Abydos prospered through trade and tolls and played a prominent role in Persian, Greek and later Hellenistic conflicts, remaining a key gateway between Europe and Asia.
