Turkoman carpets are the umbrella term for the weavings of the Turkmen tribes, whose identifying feature is the row of gul medallions set on a deep red ground. The name derives from the Turkmen people, who for centuries lived as livestock breeders in the steppes and border desert regions of Central Asia. Wool is knotted onto wool with 100,000 to 250,000 knots per square meter, today mainly in northern Afghanistan, where Turkmen families, especially the Ersari, continue the old pattern language. Within the nomadic carpets they form a cohesive, strictly geometric family. Size: 263 x 187 cm Color: red - black -green Handmade Rug from Turkmenista
