Two 1893 Columbian Expo Dollar Medals, HK-155

United States, ca. late 19th century CE. A matched pair of brass commemorative medals issued for the World's Columbian Exposition held in Chicago. These examples are the HK-155 Small Letters variety, a recognized classification within the Hibler-Kappen reference for so-called dollars of the exposition. Each medal features on the obverse a detailed depiction of the U.S. Government Building from the fair, with surrounding inscriptions noting its dimensions. The reverse bears a bold inscription identifying the Treasury Department's exhibit at the exposition, along with "Chicago 1893" and "United States Mint Exhibit," all arranged in centered text within a circular legend. Both medals have plain edges and retain a warm golden-bronze tone. Size: 1.4" Diameter (3.6 cm) Item # 201672
