Umbrella stand/rack - umbrella stand - Polychrome wood - walking cane stand

For sale is an antique umbrella and walking-stick stand from the 19th century, presumably from the southern German or Alpine region (Bavaria / Tyrol). The furniture is entirely made of solid, hand-turned wood and has an old, original color finish in blue-green tones with reddish-brown tips. The characteristic sharply tapering rods recall traditional alpine fence and bed forms and give the object a very distinctive architectural effect. Such stands were typically used in the 19th century in hallways, inns, or entrance areas to store walking sticks, umbrellas, or riding crops. The surface shows a patina developed with age-related signs of wear, color losses, and old wormholes, as is common for objects of this period. The stand is overall in sturdy, authentic original condition. I am not aware of any later alterations or restorations. A decorative and at the same time rare example of southern German folk art of the 19th century, which in both historical interiors and modern rooms makes a very strong impression.
