Undated (1688) American Plantations Token, or 1/24 Part Real. Original.

Impressive Original American Plantations Token Undated (1688) American Plantations Token, or 1/24 Part Real. Original. Newman 2-B, W-1135. Rarity-5+. 7 Harp Strings. MS-64 (NGC). From our November 2020 offering of the E Pluribus Unum Collection, where it was described as: A good deal of silvery luster persists across attractive medium gray surfaces, tinted with a bit of gold. Hints of green are seen on both sides. Sharp and fairly even in appearance, though the rims have begun to crumble a bit and tinpest has attacked the crown above the Hibernian shield. A circular pit on the horse's forequarters is noted as an identifier, but this piece is largely free of the tinpest corrosion that plagues these pieces. Good sharpness and eye appeal, a better than usual example of this historic early tin coinage. This stands as the single finest original American Plantation token ever certified by NGC. PCGS has never graded one finer than MS-63. Provenance: From the Winslet Collection. Earlier from our sale of the E Pluribus Unum Collection, Part II, November 2020 Auction, lot 4038. NGC Census: 1; 0 finer. PCGS# 49. NGC ID: AUB2. Click here for certification details from NGC.
