Undated (possibly ca. 1793) Washington Success Medal. Small Size.

Undated (possibly ca. 1793) Washington Success Medal. Small Size. Musante GW-44, Baker-267B, W-10875. Brass, Tinned. Reeded Edge. AU-58 (PCGS). A great example of this small size variant of the Washington Success medal, this minimally worn example retains nearly complete tinning. The obverse is predominantly pewter gray with flashes of bright silver in the protected areas around some of the peripheral design elements. The reverse, more lustrous, delivers brighter silver gray color overall. Tinges of light antique gold patina are also present to further enhance the eye appeal. The eye at central reverse lacks finer detail, as typically seen, but it is fully outlined, and the balance of the design elements on both sides are well struck in bold to sharp detail. Impressively smooth in overall appearance, this is one of the absolute finest examples of the type that we have ever had the privilege of bringing to auction. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 790. NGC ID: 2VZA. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
