All auctions / Ethnographical / Unsigned - Belt buckle

Peranakan belt buckle with belt. The buckle on the back is a bit sloppy again; soldered. See here for the photo. The belt is a very small size, see photo here. For dimensions, refer to the centimeter scale. The Peranakan, also known as "Street-Chinese", are descendants of Chinese settlers in Maritime Southeast Asia who, blended with local cultural elements, have formed a completely individual culture. In West Java, Peranakan women often wore a specific type of belt buckle, the so-called pending. The belt and the buckle could also be from before 1900; we simply don’t know how old it is. Weight is 332 grams. Shipping outside the Netherlands is by registered mail.
