Unusual Vintage Cluster Ring With Ruby & Diamonds in White Gold, 1980s

Ruby is the red variety of the mineral corundum. Corundum can be found in almost all colours of the rainbow, even completely colourless stones are among them. But while all these stones can also be addressed as sapphires, only the magnificently red stones of this mineral genus are rubies. Rubies have extraordinary significance in the world of jewellery. In the 19th century, its bright colour was often associated with love and passion: "Rubies are especially suitable for young lovers [...] In general, it is considered the symbol of the most passionate and ardent love," already knew the Illustrirte Damen-Zeitung Bazar in November 1886. The present vintage ring presents in its center a particularly beautiful ruby of intense red colour. The ring is designed as a classic entourage ring, with ten diamonds surrounding the ruby like the leaves of a precious flower. The ruby is a natural gemstone from Thailand weighing 1.90 ct. The ten brilliant cut diamonds in a modern full cut weigh a combined 0.80 ct. The gemstone settings and the rest of the ring are forged from high karat white gold. The ring was made in the 1980s and is in very good condition. A certificate from the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation Idar-Oberstein is enclosed with the ring.
