Ute Lemper – “Life Is A Cabaret” – enamel wall sign –...

Ute Lemper – “Life Is A Cabaret” – enamel wall sign – cabaret & music decoration A distinctive and decorative enamel wall sign featuring Ute Lemper and the title “Life Is A Cabaret,” rendered in a deep blue color with a striking full-length image of the German singer and actress. The image directly references Lemper’s early international breakthrough. Life Is A Cabaret appeared in 1987 on Columbia/CBS and includes, among others, the songs Willkommen, Mein Herr, Maybe This Time and Cabaret. Interestingly, virtually the same characteristic image of Lemper – in a black suit with a white hat – was also used in CBS’s international promotion for the album. A full-page advert from Music & Media in April 1988 shows her in this pose against the same blue background with the texts “UTE LEMPER” and “LIFE IS A CABARET.” Ute Lemper has grown into one of the best-known interpreters of the European cabaret repertoire. Her career includes, among other things, the music of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht and roles in major musical productions. Her portrayal of Sally Bowles in Cabaret in Paris marked a significant breakthrough and earned her a Molière Award. The sign has a gently convex shape and four mounting holes in the corners. The combination of glossy enamel, deep blue background and classic cabaret photography gives the object a distinctly vintage appearance. Attractive for a music room, home bar, café, theater interior or a collection of music and entertainment memorabilia.
