V. Aelgoet (XX) - Vogel van het paradijs

Oil painting on canvas of a bird of paradise on a branch, with palm trees and a hilly landscape in the background. Bottom right signed and dated in reddish-brown paint: "J. Aelgoet 1902". The reading of the initial and capital letter is not certain (possibly also Helgoet). Below is a second notation in black, "1908", partly behind the frame rabbet. Painter not identified. Probably Belgian (Flemish), based on the spelling of the name. Framed in a gilded ribbed frame with a cream-colored mat. On the back there is a label from the framers Schleiper & Fils (Brussels/Antwerp). The frame was probably added later. Dimensions Work: 50 × 38 cm (height × width) With frame: 64 × 52 cm (height × width)

Estimate:£6.75
