Vanessa Bonino - Sculpture, Koi carp - 37 cm - Majolica - 2026

Ceramics - Maiolica "Koi carp" was created by shaping the clay and, through firing in a professional kiln, terracotta was obtained. Then, in a second firing, it became ceramic. The artist studies animals and the sensation she perceives, conveying it through her vision, molding the material. The carp is a lively, strong fish with longevity. It is a symbol of courage, strength, and patience. It is a magical, lucky animal that evokes the East and all the allure it carries. It features a hook for hanging. It will be shipped in a sturdy protective package, with an authenticity certificate. Vanessa Bonino (Turin, 1992) is a contemporary artist whose current research focuses on the plastic force of material sculpture. Formed in the cultural fervor of Turin, Bonino has evolved her eclectic style toward an original synthesis between ceramic tradition and digital languages. Her latest productions attest a deep experimentation with terracotta and glazed ceramic, where ancestral forms — such as the bull figure or the carp — are reinterpreted through low-poly geometries or expressive, dynamic sculptures. Her stylistic signature is distinguished by the deft use of changing cold patinas and vitreous glazes, capable of transforming earth into surfaces vibrant with light and color. Addressing themes related to nature and the metamorphosis of matter, Bonino creates works that are both solid and fluid, inviting the viewer to reflect on the boundary between the archaic and the future. Her rising prominence in the Italian contemporary art scene is confirmed by a growing presence in private collections and dynamic exhibition contexts.
