A pair of porcelain urn vases (2) on loose pedestals – Bordeaux red / Sèvres style with putti scenes. A pair of porcelain urn vases on corresponding, detachable square pedestals. This impressive set is finished in a rich Bordeaux red/Bordeaux-purple glaze (known as fond Bordeaux or rose pompadour) and is adorned with precious, gold-painted decorations. Around the body of both vases runs a continuous, highly detailed hand-painted depiction of putti (cherubs) playfully engaged with science, mathematics and geometry. The detailed brushstrokes, the lively expressions and the subtle calculations on the papers demonstrate the highest level of porcelain painting. The vases are fitted with gracefully shaped white-gold handles in the form of interwoven cords. Both the neck, the foot and the accompanying pedestals are finished with gold palmettes, garlands and floral motifs. At the bottom, the vases are marked with a blue underglaze meander and letter mark (S-mark in Sèvres style). The whole is in excellent condition. The height per vase without the foot is 25 cm, the width 23 cm and the depth 19 cm. Moreover, the vase alone weighs 1,575 grams. The feet per piece have a height of 10 cm, width of 15.5 cm and a depth of 15.5 cm. Furthermore, the pedestals weigh 1,100 grams each.
