Superb numbered edition on large Arches parchment, watermark “Vertès,” all signed by Bauer and Vertès, and illustrated with 62 black lithographs, in-text or full-page, by Vertès - This publication follows the tradition of illustrated books devoted to Paris, a city whose charm lies as much in the richness of its monumental heritage as in the liveliness of its streets, the diversity of its neighborhoods, and the particular atmosphere of its cafés, squares, and promenades - The title underscores a double ambition: to capture “moments,” i.e., fleeting scenes, attitudes, and moments of life, while revealing the “faces” of a city whose identity is built through its inhabitants, trades, habits, and encounters - Gérard Bauer, writer and chronicler of Parisian life, brings to the work a literary sensitivity attentive to human behavior, to urban traditions, and to the social contrasts that make up the capital’s daily life - Vertès & Gérard Bauer - Instants et Visages de Paris - 1951 - André Sauret - 155 Pages.
