An urban icon in its stylistic maturity. Official document and representation of the Vespa 50 Special in its final production stage, at the end of the 1970s. By then, the small Vespa was no longer just a youth vehicle: it was part of the Italian and European cultural landscape, consolidated as a symbol of everyday freedom and timeless design. The 50 Special of 1978 retained the essence that made it famous —monocoque steel body, compact dimensions and the characteristic square headlamp— but incorporated small technical evolutions and finishing touches typical of the era. Its aesthetic combined functional simplicity with an unmistakable character: clean lines, protective shield and that silhouette that seemed to float lightly among urban traffic. Beneath the seat beat the classic two-stroke single-cylinder, 49 cc, air-cooled, paired with a manual transmission on the left grip. In these final versions, many units were fitted with a four-speed gearbox, offering a more elastic and city-usable response. It wasn’t a machine of numbers, but of sensations: a high-pitched sound, mechanical vibration and a lightness that made every journey nimble and spontaneous. In the midst of the cultural fervor of the late 70s, the 50 Special became an inseparable companion for students, workers and young people seeking independence without renouncing style. It was economical, sturdy and easy to maintain, but above all it was a silent declaration of identity: practical, modern and authentic. Today, the Vespa 50 Special from the late 70s is one of the versions most sought after by collectors and vintage culture enthusiasts. It represents the perfect balance between tradition and evolution within the Vespa universe: a small machine that encapsulates an era entire of simple mobility, Italian character and freedom on two wheels. Comes with a black wooden frame and synthetic crystal. Very well wrapped and protected for safe transport until it reaches your hands. The exterior measurements are 63 x 93 cm and 3 cm in depth. Large-format print with gallery-quality. Museum-grade cotton canvas paper 340 g/m2. FRAME INCLUDED, you’ll only need to hang it on the wall. Shipped inside a wooden box to prevent any impact.
