Vhils (1987) - Impression

Vhils - Alexandre Farto Impression - Hand signed - Limited Edition Six-colour lithograph on paper, Quink ink and acid Printed on a Marinoni press at Idem Studio, Paris Hand finished, signed and numbered by Vhils BFK Rives 250 g/m2 hand-cut paper 70 × 50 cm 2022 Vhils (Alexandre Farto) is a Portuguese street artist who has redefined urban art through his concept of "creative destruction." While icons like Banksy use stencils and spray paint to deliver sharp social commentary, and Invader pieces together pixelated ceramic mosaics, Vhils takes a radically opposite approach: he carves into the city itself. Using jackhammers, chisels, and even explosives, he strips away layers of plaster and brick to reveal striking, poetic portraits hidden within weathered walls. Alongside Banksy and Invader, Vhils transforms public spaces into open-air galleries, but his unique technique turns the literal decay of our cities into a powerful celebration of human identity.
