About the work: Vasarely’s perfectionism imposes an absolute standard of quality that, at that time, only the presses of Basel printers could meet. Thus, between 1971 and 1978, Editions du Griffon, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, were entrusted by Victor Vasarely with the realization, distribution and diffusion of 19 albums and 12 screenprints gathering the bouquet of his works. This unique print from a special edition was conceived and supervised by Victor Vasarely himself, and it is with the same concern for quality that Editions du Griffon gave exceptional care to these series of albums printed in the 1970s, identifiable by the copyright on the back of the prints. About the artist: Victor Vasarely: (1906-1997) French painter of Hungarian origin, recognized as the father of optical art, or "op art." His works are present in the world’s greatest museums, including: Le Hara Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan); Fondation Vasarely; Centre Pompidou (France); The Walker Art Center; the MOMA; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Guggenheim, New York (USA); Das Museum Folkwang (Germany); Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Portugal); Kröller-Müller Museum (Netherlands); Queensland Art Gallery (Australia); Nykytaiteen museo Kiasma (Finland); Horsens Kunstmuseum (Denmark); The Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Italy); The National Gallery of Scotland, the Tate Collection (United Kingdom); Kunstmuseum Lichtenstein (Liechtenstein); Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Argentina); Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje (FYROM); Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (Norway); the Victor Vasarely Museum, Pécs (Hungary); Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Caracas (Venezuela); Musée des Beaux-Arts, Montréal (Canada)...
