A beautiful bronze pendant in the Viking Age zoomorphic style. The Viking Age (9th–11th centuries). The artifact is crafted in a distinctive zoomorphic style featuring fluid, serpentine motifs that embody the ancient mythology and sacred beliefs of northern peoples regarding power, protection, and rebirth. In Scandinavian tradition, the serpent (or dragon) symbolized wisdom, hidden power, and the continuity of the life cycle—a prime example being Jörmungandr, who encircles the worlds. Such amulets served not merely as ornaments but as powerful protective charms that accompanied their owners on long voyages, along trade routes, and in everyday life.
