Oil on canvas 44x67cm signed Alfr. Wahlberg Painted around 1870 during his time in France where he easily acquired the study method and technique of the French school, was successful, won medals at the Salons of 1870 and 1872 and became the introducer of modern landscape art into Swedish painting. It is typical painting from this time painted with both breadth and boldness and at the same time with refined elegance marking his transition from the Dusseldorf Technique. The light is essential and the technique used to create the sun reflections and structure on the leaves are highly inspired by Renoir.
