Villeroy & Boch - Christine Reuter - Table service (2)...

This Mid-Century Modern service duo is an iconic production from the famous Villeroy & Boch manufactory, featuring the highly celebrated Acapulco pattern designed in the late sixties by designer Christine Reuter based on an original Mexican drawing. The set consists of a large caquelon or fondue pot fitted with a long straight handle, along with a matching large pitcher. Both items are crafted from vitro-porcelain, a patented ceramic material that is particularly dense and resilient, offering a pure, brilliant white background. The rims of the pieces display a vibrant polychrome frieze, depicting stylized exotic birds with cobalt blue and lilac feathers surrounded by bright blossoms in orange, vivid yellow, and moss green, a graphic universe typical of the bold, colorful Pop aesthetics of the seventies. The caquelon weighs 950 g and stands 9 cm high, with a top rim diameter of 20 cm and a total length of 34 cm including its straight tubular handle. The large pitcher weighs 700 g, with a height of 14.5 cm, a top rim diameter of 10 cm, and an overall width of about 17 cm including the rear handle and the pouring spout, bringing the combined total weight of this duo to 1650 g. The reverse side of each base bears the official circular blue underglaze stamp bearing the mark of Ancienne Manufacture Imperiale et Royale Villeroy & Boch Septfontaines, accompanied by the inscription Made in Luxembourg and the title of the Acapulco collection. The overall condition of preservation of both pieces is excellent, as the vitro-porcelain remains in remarkably fresh condition with perfectly glossy glazes, showing no cracks, chips, or fading in the painted decorations.
