"My pieces are designed to be companions rather than possessions. I grant my objects organic, animated characteristics, hoping that people will form attachments to them as they would to pets." Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist-designer, a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, who explores the boundaries between design and sculpture. He views the durability of an object not only through its materials, but above all through the emotional connection it evokes. By making his objects almost alive, they become companions that one must care for, keep, and cherish. The Anémone lamp is designed to embody the diffuse glow and perpetual movement of sea anemones. Inspired by the natural beauty of the underwater world, it seeks to freeze in a sculptural form the graceful motions of this marine creature. Technical details: Runs on a 220–230 V supply with Type E plug. Integrated light dimmer within the lamp.
