Vintage Entourage Ring with Columbian Emerald & Diamonds, c. 1970

The protagonists of this ring are a first-class emerald in the centre and sparkling diamonds all around. The emerald in the classic emerald cut is a true treasure: it weighs around 3.20 carats, its colour is bright and intense, it is quite clear with a beautiful so-called "jardin", i.e. natural inclusions in the stone, which occur quite regularly in emeralds. And it comes from Colombia, the classic country of origin of the emerald. The emerald is framed by a halo of 2.19 c marquise-cut white diamonds and brilliant-cut diamonds. Additional tension is created by the trick of not setting the diamonds in a single plane but grouping them around the emerald in a staggered arrangement. This creates a three-dimensional impression. The setting and ring band are forged from fine platinum and are so skilfully restrained that almost only the gemstones are visible. At the same time, the lattice-shaped undercut allows light to fall into the stones from below. The quality of the emerald and the diamonds has been analysed by an independent laboratory in Idar-Oberstein. The ring came to us from Nuremberg.
