Vintage Pendant With Colombian Emerald & Diamonds on an Antique Platinum

What a green! The pendant on this necklace is a feast for the senses. The showpiece is a large emerald weighing around 10.00 carats. The stone is cut into a powerful, full-bodied drop. This allows the stone to show off its colour particularly well: From all angles, the colour is intense and bright. The emerald is also very clear: fine inclusions, the so-called "jardin", enliven its interior in a way that is typical of emeralds. However, the light can pass through the stone quite freely, making it glow. The emerald is set in a wide frame of white diamonds and set in platinum. The delicate chain to which the pendant is attached is also made of platinum. Its design consists of alternating old European cut diamonds in a fine bezel setting and a group of three smaller diamonds that have been joined together to form an elongated decorative element. Based on the cut of the diamonds and the type of setting, fine and with elegant milegrains, we assume that the pendant was created in the years around 1960. The necklace, on the other hand, was created around 1920 and comes from the range of New York jeweller Marcus & Co. It originally held a pocket watch, as the previous owners of the necklace told us. We had an independent appraisal carried out on the necklace and in particular had the emerald examined. Its origin from Colombia was confirmed once again. The certificates are of course enclosed with the necklace.
